Abstract: The aim of the study was to see the potentialities of HBO in treatment of the lung oxygenating function (LOF) disturbances in patients with cardiosurgical pathology. 33 patients operated on for CHD and heart disease were studied. LOF disturbances revealed themselves in the decreased Pa02 (II5+9.8mmHg), FiO2 being 50% O2, alveolar-arterial difference (A-a O2) rise to I38+I2.4mmHg, the lung shunt (Qs/QT)I3+3% and lactate rise to 3.3+0.98mmol/l. The first HBO session (I.5ATA,45min) to treat O2 deficiency was indicated 5-6 hours after the surgery.Two groups were identified. In the I group (27) HBO increased Pa02 to 153+I3mmHg,decreased cardiac output(QT)from 5+I.5 to 4+0.8l/min, Qs/QT-from II+2 to 8+1%. HBO resulted in normal lactate, A-a O2 remained practically the same (before HBO 113+11,after 94+I4mmHg). In the 2 group(6) HBO had practically on Pa02(I20+18mmHg), QT(before 4+I.5,after 4+1.3 1/min),Qs/QT(IO+4 and-II+4%). A-a02 went down(from 185+18 to 175+20mmHg) and lactate went(from 2.5+0.33 to 2.8+0.35mmolTl). Thus, single HBO session in the immediate postoperative period removes or decreases 02 deficiency, copes with myocardial hyperdynamics, LOF being intact.
